11:02 Sat on the train

11:56 arrived and did the 1-hour walk

12:30 stopped to take some photos of a beach. It was really beautiful. I had a feeling that everything is old and not form the 21 century. I tried to play with different focuses on daffodils.

13:30 put our stuff and saw the pod. Were very surprised by the big living space next to the kitchen

15:00 lunchtime in a cafe. Had a Valintine’s cake. The people seem very friendly and open-minded. There is a big difference between people here and in London.  In London, nobody has time on you because of the fast pace.

16:30 went to Coop to buy some food. Each of us will cook one dish a day.

17:00 came to Pod, Had a dinner. Irene cooked us some food. We started to experiment with the materials that we have found in the living room.

We have spoken about our projects and plans for the rest days. I gave some advice to each other. Tried to find what we had all in the commune

Further plans:

  1. Thinking about selecting more people to tell more about imperfections and the way how they make them features
  2. Creating own font

Disadvantages:

  1. Need to experiment more with tipe
  2. Need to experiment more with portrait photos

Advantages:

  1. A very nice and exciting experience and the atmosphere(cozy and working)
  2. Had plenty of time to experiment in nature
  3. Understood how to work with the exposure during the portrait photoshoot
  4. Enjoyed a concept of juxtaposing and telling a story

1 day outcome

1-day outcome

I have asked the girls about their imperfections.

Irene told me that she is afraid of people’s judgment upon her. That is her imperfection. To solve that problem she put on crazy make-up to push herself not to be afraid of judgment. She told a story of how she came with a crazy make-up on her face on the last day of school.

Raquel is very messy and that mess could be seen everywhere in her life: sketchbook, hair, even that she does not answers the messages.

I have experimented a bit with crafts and tried to work with typography and collage. I understood that it is interesting to work in juxtaposition. To show imperfection trough perfection.

2 day outcome

2-day outcome

I have tried to take photos of imperfections and perfections outdoors and find them in nature. The purpose was to show the imperfections in a beautiful way.

In the second part of the day, I have tried to use Photoshop and typography. I have learned how to make the font with a photo inside of it. I have experimented and produced a few posters. In my opinion, the juxtaposition in the photo and the text helps me to visualize the subject a lot. Moreover, I have taken photos of Raquel and the mess around her while she was doing her sketchbook. I have experimented with the long exposure and I think that these photos helped me to emphasize the mood of mess in a shot. However, I do not kile the light on the photos. I do not know how to change it. Now photos look flat

3-day outcome

The purpose of the day was to concentrate on a portrait photoshoot and understand how the light is working. During the photoshoot with Irene, I have experimented with covering the exposure with different types of paper and a hand. Like that I got very interesting filters on the outcome and the photos became deeper.3 day

key research. Bronfer

That is a photograph which was made on photo film Leica. In my opinion, it is the best example of what I see as an outcome of that commune experience. We go to the farm, to nature. I really want to concentrate on taking photos in nature. Moreover, photo film could create a great atmosphere of the old times.

I like that I can see all the details in the photo despite the fact that it is very dark. However, If I were a photographer, I would make the photo a bit lighter. But at the same time, such a dark effect creates a feeling of complete mystery.

As for my project, I could try to find imperfections in the nature and try to capture that in a nice way.
